Texas ratified the 19th Amendment on this day in 1919.
Better late than never! South Carolina ratified the 19th Amendment on this day in 1969. The 19th had become law in 1920.
Iowa ratified the 19th Amendment on this day in 1919.
Missouri ratified the 19th Amendment on this day in 1919.
Independence Day
New Jersey was the only state among the original 13 United States to enter the Union with women's voting rights in 1776. Unfortunately, the New Jersey legislature rescinded women's suffrage in 1807.
Wyoming gained statehood, becoming the first state with equal voting rights for women, on this day in 1890.
Arkansas ratified the 19th Amendment on this day in 1919.
Montana & Nebraska ratified the 19th Amendment on this day in 1919.
The Voting Rights Act became law on this day in 1965.
